Sjøstrand Rorbuer

Sjøstrand Rorbuer is a rorbu cabin camp situated in the fishing village of Ballstad in the borough of Vestvågøy in the Lofoten Islands. The camp is owned and run by a genuine fisherman’s family. We offer low prices and personal service and are happy to help our guests in finding unique holiday adventures in Lofoten. Our speciality is fishing and fish landing.

Sjøstrand is beautifully situated with an excellent view of Ballstad inner harbour.

The surrounding countryside is magnificent, with sea and mountains all around.

Sjøstrand is an excellent starting point for day trips either westwards to Nusfjord, Reine and Å i Lofoten, or eastwards to Henningsvær and Svolvær.

You can go fishing in the Vestfjord on board the 47 foot MV “Iversen Jr.”.  Skipper Børge Iversen has 30 years of experience as a fisherman. Daily trips at 2 pm from June 15 to August 15. Duration: approx. 3 hours. Price when at least 4 passengers: NOK 450 for adults and NOK 200 for children. Fishing tackle and your catch are included in the price. Ask us for accommodation offers, too. Location: Sjøstrand Rorbuer, Ballstad.

All our rorbu cabins are equipped with a kitchenette, shower/toilet and have 1-3 bedrooms.

As of today we have 10 rorbu cabins with 4-6 beds. Some also have a sofa bed in the living room. Altogether about 45 beds.

In addition, we have at our disposal 6 fishermen’s rorbu cabins in Bertelvika, 12 km from Sjøstrand, with their own quay and a wonderful sea view.

We also have spaces for motor homes.

We offer sightseeing trips among the isles and sherries, including visits to Nusfjord.

We have small 15-18 foot boats for hire with 4.5-15 hp outboard motors.

The MV “Iversen Jr.” is a 47 foot vessel that we use for fishing during the winter, and for tourist purposes in the summer.
